INTRODUCTION-

Theresa Taylor is a contemporary visual artist based in the UK

Her art practice investigates time, it's passing and what she feels has been left behind as traces from the past - in reality or in fantasy. Her work is heavily influenced by the natural world as well as archaeology and has an underpinning of psychoanalysis. She is interested in the 'materiality' of the landscape and an earlier time of activity, either in the case of an ancient landscape or in the sense of a relic of something material that was significant. These themes are translated into abstract marks, textures and objects.Having been an art therapist and later a psychotherapist, one can see the significance of her interest in the traces left from the past and of 'excavating'.

The processes she uses often indicate these themes, layering for expample, also digging and scoring into materials in printmaking and sculpture.

Using printmaking as her primary medium, her work ranges from wall-based work to 3-D installations. In addition to printmaking she uses a broad base of materials and takes an experimental stance to her practice.
